Making Money As A Virtual Assistant

Can you really earn money as a Virtual Assistant? The speedy respond is, Yes, you can! The trick is to figure out what type of niche you want to be in before you start offering services. Decide your niche, do sure you have the skills and equipment to service that niche, create a website, and market yourself.

Decide your niche

There are many different niches a Virtual Assistant can take. Some people will lisp you that a virtual assistant can only do administrative tasks but I disagree with that. A virtual assistant is anyone who does anything to assist others virtually, remotely, using technology to work “virtually.” You can decide to be a Article Marketing Virtual Assistant, or a Real-estate Virtual Assistant, or any number of other niches that you have the skill to do. Decide your niche, and stick to that niche, there is plenty of work to go around so there is no need to cast a wide net.

Improve your skills

Consider whether or not you have the skills needed to service your clients. Do you need to learn to use newsletter software, shopping cart software, or virtual event software? If you do, search for and locate online classes that you can take to accumulate those skills. Have it or not there are classes for just about anything online. Alternatively, you can teach yourself to use the programs and software you desire by just purchasing the software and using their tutorials. For instance, Aweber™ has great tutorials available for any client to watch. You can watch and read their tutorials and then put them into action. Once you learn to use it, market your new offering.

Buy Equipment

If you do not have the salubrious tools you cannot do the job. As a Virtual Assistant you are going to need to spend a bit of money getting your office in order. At a minimum you will need a computer, a speedily speed Internet connection, a printer, a fax machine, and a telephone. Of course, you can use Skype ™, and other programs to give you the functionality of these items, but you must have the capability. Also, you need to invest in a good assist up method. You can bewitch an external hard drive or use a service online that allows you to back up your computer often.

It is future recommended that you have a comfortable desk and chair. Keep in mind how important ergonomics is to keep yourself healthy and pain free. Sitting at a desk all day long doing “computer” work can be very hard on your back and body.

Create a Website

You need to be your possess, first, best client by creating for yourself the best website you can afford. There are many ways to do this from hiring a web designer to creating it yourself. Today, with the advent of WordPress ™ and other content management systems that work “in the cloud” your options are essentially limitless whether you do it yourself or hire a designer. But, don’t get carried away. My best advice is do not utilize more than a thousand dollars on a website for your Virtual Assistant business, if you spend even half that much, it is enough.

Market your business

Join associations both on and offline. Get business cards made and tell everyone what you are doing. Perfect your 30 second “elevator speech” so that you can explain to others what you are doing. Consider volunteering to a charity your expertise to help get some testimonials. Also, once you accumulate a client, within the first two weeks ask for a recommendation so that you can build your portfolio swiftly.

Before you know it you will be busy and successful as a virtual assistant, even turning clients away but give yourself time. It can take two years to build up a successful virtual assistant business. But, honestly, I really do not know anyone who has given it an honest go who has failed. Being a virtual assistant is truly one of the best ways to earn money from home on the Internet.
